At AirFlow Technology, we offer green and cost-effective solutions for health and house comfort, including several solutions that help you stay cool in summer.
Ah, summer! We love her for her warmth and beauty–yet danger and discomfort lurk within her embrace! Recently, Dr. Drew Koch wrote about these dangers in an article entitled How to reduce risk for heat illness. Here are some points that struck me as especially pertinent:
- “If you are outside on a hot day and you are not consuming enough fluid to allow your body to sweat, you are at risk for heat illness.”
- “Heat stroke occurs when your body temperature rises above 104 degrees with central nervous system dysfunction and lack of sweating.”
- “Heat exhaustion most commonly occurs in people who are not accustomed to being outside, working or exercising outside in hot weather, and who are not drinking enough fluid.”
- “People with heat exhaustion may or may not have an elevated body temperature. They typically experience symptoms such as weakness, lightheadedness, fatigue, nausea, headache and muscle aches.”
- “Babies sweat from the heat but cannot tell you they are dehydrated. It is important to give them sufficient fluids.”
Let’s keep aware of these symptoms when we are active outside this summer!
If you have an HVAC system and battery-powered fans of the highest quality in your home, the you will probably not suffer either from heat exhaustion or heat stroke while inside. You may nevertheless suffer from an irksome condition known as “home heat discomfort,” the symptoms of which include the following:
- Beads of sweat on the face
- Excessive use of newspapers, magazines, etc., as impromptu fans
- Languid staring into space
- Lack of get-up-and-go
- Sensations of being too hot
The first thing to do when you find yourself suffering from home heat discomfort is take calm and rational steps to cool down. After you have done the basics, you will likely find that you have a “problem room”: a room in your new construction or pre-owned home that just isn’t very cooperative in getting cool.
That’s why we created the AirFlow Breeze register booster (AirFlow register booster fan, air register booster, heating and air conditioning booster), which pulls extra cool air from your ducts to make a problem room comfortable. Please take a look at our 0:43 video about the AirFlow Breeze that demonstrates just how easy it is to cure home heat discomfort!
