Just this month news has come from the Philippines about a new paint from manufacturer, Boyson, called KNOxOUT.
What makes this paint so special is the impact it will have on the environment. We all know that air pollution is a huge problem and bad for the health of everyone across the globe.
What you might not know however, is that a World Health Organization (WHO) study has confirmed that air pollution kills three times more than vehicular accidents and a 2007 study by the Philippine Environment Monitor confirms that 1 out of 8 premature deaths are caused by air pollution.
With those stats in mind, let's return to the paint. Most environmentally-friendly paints focus on the low VOC levels to minimize their negative impact. Not KNOxOUT. According to the announcement,
This paint acts similar to the pavement being used outside St. Louis. The announcement tells us that it has CristalActiv photo-catalytic technology and contains titanium dioxide, which, upon exposure to light, transforms ordinary water vapor to free radicals that break down nitrogen oxides (NOx) and VOCs, two major components of smog.
Here at AirFlow Technology we have long been familiar with photocatalytic technology as it is included in the Crane personal air purifiers we offer, especially with children's room in mind. The Crane air cleaners' UV light system and filters remove germs and bacteria making rooms healthier and more comfortable.
The AirFlow Breeze register vent booster fan will do its part to circulate the cleaner air throughout the room. Cleaner and warmer air flowing means that rooms will be more comfortable and, as a bonus, reduce the run-time of your furnace, saving energy and utility costs.
Improving air quality both in toxicity and temperature means a better environment for all the living things in your house!

it establishes a new paradigm for green paints - that of an eco-ACTivepaint with Air Cleaning Technology, which effectively transforms painted areas into "air purifiers" that continuously work to reduce air pollution and improve the environment.
