China in need of more than just air purifiers

A new revolution is brewing in China.

That may be an odd topic for us here at AirFlow Technology, but we are interested because it is an air quality revolution! A recent article in the Beijing Times by Edward Wong (and reported by the New York Times) shares the information.

For years we have heard about the poor quality of the air in Beijing due to the fumes from cars and the smog created from the factories.

The Chinese government reports that the quality of the air is most often "good" or "excellent." However, the fact that face masks are sold out in the stores and an air purifier company boasts that more than 200 of their air cleaners are used in homes and offices in the city tells another story.

According to the article, the Chinese government bases their reports on air pollution larger than 10 microns. Compare that to the reporting done in the U.S. based on particulates of 2.5 microns. Big - no, huge - difference.

The health impact is what is creating the stir among the population. The article reports research that says if the levels of smog were reduced to those of Los Angeles (which here in the U.S. is considered one of the worst cities) the life expectancy of residents may likely increase by five years.

The Blueair HEPA silent air purifier removes particulates in the air that are 0.1 microns or smaller. The residents of China are calling for the government to be "more honest" and work to reduce the health hazard caused by poor air quality.

When I consider that the Blueair HEPA Silent Air Purifier offered by AirFlow Technology removes fine particles up to 0.1 microns in size, it makes me realize that even though we complain about air quality in our communities, we are well ahead of the situation in Beijing!
